Created by Dayle McLeod for the song 'My Mother's Body' for the film 'Charlie Say's by Mary Harron.

I wrote this song after watching hours and hours of Documentary footage of the Manson family murders and I was struck by the way Sharon Tate begged for them to murder her later, after her baby was born. I was thinking about what that moment must have been like... begging for your own life and the life of your baby in the face of an experience of life that was so evil and insane that could cause a person to believe the earth wasn’t a great place to be alive and human. But she knew, and she fought and I thought that was beautiful. So I wrote this song from the perspective of Sharon Tate’s baby, informed by my own experience of being alive and being a daughter and knowing how scary it must be to be my mother 😂.

There’s more to the story so stay with me here.

I recorded the song on my iPhone and sent it to Mary Harron who directed the film and she said she loved it. When I got back to New York I found a 1960’s analog recording studio and made a proper recording of it for her to be used in the film, but she said she preferred the iPhone recorded version because it was more raw. Less polished. Like the tone of the film. So that’s the version you hear in the credits. Funny how life works. Okay that’s it please enjoy! Love you all.
