In Bloom
Dayle McLeod
You don't need to know that Dayle McLeod wrote, recorded and produced her first album herself in her parents basement to recognize its handmade charm, down to her harmonizing to sounds of rain and lightening on the track 'Silence of the Desert', but it doesn't hurt to know the story behind the music.
This album was created over the last 4 years
You don't need to know that Dayle McLeod wrote, recorded and produced her first album herself in her parents basement to recognize its handmade charm, down to her harmonizing to sounds of rain and lightening on the track 'Silence of the Desert', but it doesn't hurt to know the story behind the music.
This album was created over the last 4 years following Dayle's terriyfingly beautiful shamanic initiation and stint in the psyche ward (which she writes about in her memoir, 'The Big Dream'). When she got out, her life was starting again anew, and her songs on this albums are more like prayers.
Her songs have a curious attachment to her earthy existence and its corporeal forms, but she is interested in the methods of transition between physical world and a metaphysical sphere. You can feel her desire to reach what is beyond in the music, and her interest in the medium that might translate between these two spheres, that being the medium of her craft, music and poetry.
This organic and experimental album follows Dayle's search for the meaning of love, and lessons and betrayals along the way. True to her folk roots, the songs are the stories of her life accompanied by her nylon string guitar and hypnotic harmonies.
